The 1923 AAA National Championship Car season consisted of eight official points-paying races held between February 25 and November 29, 1923, on a mix of board, dirt, and brick oval tracks across the United States. Eddie Hearne won the AAA National Championship, posting strong results including victories at Kansas City and Altoona that helped him accumulate the most points over the season. Jimmy Murphy finished second in the championship standings, and Bennett Hill took third, underscoring a competitive season among the top drivers of the era. The Indianapolis 500, the marquee event of the year, was won by Tommy Milton (with Howdy Wilcox credited in shared drive records), highlighting the prestige and challenge of that race within the championship calendar. The season also included other winners such as Harry Hartz and Harlan Fengler at Fresno and the second Kansas City race, respectively, demonstrating the depth of talent in AAA racing in 1923.
