Tommy Milton (1893–1962) was a pioneering American race car driver, best known for his success in the Indianapolis 500 and early AAA Championship events. He was the first driver to win the Indy 500 twice, capturing victories in 1921 and 1923. Milton was renowned for his smooth driving style and technical skill, particularly impressive given that he was nearly completely deaf from childhood. He competed in a variety of AAA and international events during the 1910s and 1920s, driving cars for major manufacturers such as Duesenberg, Miller, and Frontenac. Milton also contributed to the development of racing technology, testing and refining cars in an era when motorsport was extremely dangerous. His accomplishments helped set the foundation for American open-wheel racing, and he remains a respected figure in early auto racing history.
