Pat Flaherty (1926–2002) was an American race car driver best known for his victory in the 1956 Indianapolis 500. Competing primarily in USAC and AAA Championship events during the 1950s, Flaherty was recognized for his steady, strategic driving and mechanical skill. His 1956 Indy 500 win came while driving a John Zink-Offenhauser, marking the peak of his racing career. Although he did not have a long list of championship titles, Flaherty’s consistency and ability to handle high-pressure situations earned him respect among his peers, and his Indy 500 triumph secured his place in American motorsport history.
