1947 AAA National Championship

The 1947 AAA National Championship Car season consisted of 11 points-paying races held from May 30 to November 2, 1947, beginning with the Indianapolis 500 and concluding at the Arlington 100. This was the first full AAA championship season after World War II, following the partial 1946 schedule, with all races counting toward the national points title. Ted Horn won the championship through consistent high finishes and strong points accumulation, including a victory at the season-ending Arlington 100. Bill Holland finished second in points, and Mauri Rose placed third, with Rose’s Indianapolis 500 win contributing significantly to his season total. The season featured a mix of paved and dirt oval races and re-established AAA’s postwar national championship series.
