The 1958 12 Hours of Sebring, held on March 22, 1958, was the second round of the FIA World Sportscar Championship and one of the premier endurance races of the year at Sebring International Raceway in Florida. The event featured a large, competitive field with 65 starters and drew around 25,000 spectators for the grueling 12-hour test on the rough, former airfield circuit. Phil Hill and Peter Collins brought a Ferrari 250 TR home first overall for Scuderia Ferrari, completing 200 laps (roughly 1,674 km) at an average speed near 139 km/h to win the Amoco Trophy in commanding fashion. Luigi Musso and Olivier Gendebien, also in a Ferrari 250 TR, finished second, just one lap behind the leaders, giving Ferrari a dominant 1–2 result. A Porsche 550 RS driven by Harry Schell and Wolfgang Seidel took third overall and won its class, underscoring the event’s mix of prototype and smaller sports cars. Several other noteworthy entries finished in class-winning positions, showing the depth and variety of machinery and talent attracted to Sebring in 1958.
