The 1925 Alexander Boguslavsky “Sports Records” set (issued under the Turf Cigarettes brand) is a 50-card tobacco issue from London, split into two series of 25 cards each. These colorful lithographed cards highlight world records and achievements across various sports like athletics, cricket, golf, tennis, motor racing, and more, with a simple sport caption on the front and record details plus a Turf ad on the back.
The standard card size is approximately 38 mm × 67 mm (about 1½” × 2⅝”). They were distributed as promotional inserts, typically one per pack of Turf Cigarettes, to encourage sales in the UK market.
Auto racing appears only once—as card #13 titled “Motor Racing” (depicting Captain Hornsted’s achievement)—because the set provides just one card per featured sport or event in its broad overview of global records, rather than focusing on motorsports.
