1962 Jacques Superchocolat “Autos 1962”

The Jacques Superchocolat 1962 Autos issue was a classic promotional sticker album produced by Superchocolat Jacques (also known as Chocolade Jacques or Superchocolade Jacques), a Belgian chocolate manufacturer famous in the mid-20th century for creating fun, educational chromo albums that came with their chocolate products to delight children and encourage repeat purchases. The stickers were distributed inside sealed packs sold alongside bars or squares of Superchocolat Jacques chocolate—each pack typically containing about five cards—so kids would learn about cars “entre deux carrés de chocolat belge” (between two squares of Belgian chocolate) while enjoying the treat.

The album itself, officially titled “Auto’s 1962 dans le marché commun” (or “Auto’s 1962 in de gemeenschappelijke markt”), was a square collector’s book (roughly 300 × 300 mm) designed for pasting in the cards; it featured 144 bilingual (French/Dutch) chromos numbered 1–144, each measuring 70 × 50 mm.

While the main theme celebrated everyday European Common Market passenger cars of 1962, the set had a clear tie to auto racing through cards depicting high-performance sports models and racing circuits. bringing the thrill of 1960s motorsport straight into kids’ albums. These nostalgic Belgian chromos remain sought-after today by vintage-car and sticker-album collectors.
