Rodger Ward

Rodger Ward (1921–2004) was a highly accomplished American race car driver, best known for his success in the USAC Championship and the Indianapolis 500. Ward won the Indy 500 twice, in 1959 and 1962, and captured the USAC National Championship titles in 1959 and 1962, making him one of the dominant drivers of his era. Known for his smooth driving style, mechanical insight, and strategic approach, he competed in both oval and road course events, often racing for leaders like Leader Cards and Cal Niday. Ward’s career spanned the 1950s and 1960s, and his consistency and technical skill earned him widespread respect, securing his legacy as one of American open-wheel racing’s greats.
