The 1933 Amalgamated Press “Motors” set consists of 24 cards and was produced as a promotional giveaway by the major UK publisher Amalgamated Press. These cards were distributed as free inserts in their weekly boys’ comics and story papers in 1933. They were hand-cut from the publications, which often resulted in slightly irregular edges, and featured plain (blank) backs. The cards are small in size, measuring approximately 67 mm x 35 mm (about 2⅝” x 1⅜”), and were printed on thin card stock.
The set covers a general “Motors” theme, including cars, motorcycles, commercial vehicles, and related subjects. Several cards were related to auto racing and are included in the gallery. Since they are blank back, only the front of the card is depicted in the accompanying gallery.
A dedicated album was produced for this set although the example pictured is missing the front and back cover. Complete sets are relatively scarce today and generally sell for around £40 in Good to Very Good condition among specialist UK trade-card collectors.
This remains a niche, minor issue aimed at young British readers interested in cars and engineering, far less common than the larger cigarette card motor series from companies like Players, Wills, or Churchman.
