1959 Trenton Speedway

In 1959, Trenton Speedway hosted the NASCAR Grand National division for a 150-mile event held May 17 on the one-mile paved Trenton Speedway that featured an 18-car field.

Bob Burdick, making his Grand National debut, won the pole at 88.95 mph. Tom Pistone, driving the #59 Rupert Safety Belt Ford Thunderbird, took the lead from Jim Reed on lap 106 and went on to score his first career Grand National victory. He finished 11.8 seconds ahead of Cotton Owens, with Lee Petty third, Jim Reed fourth, and Tommy Irwin fifth.

Pistone averaged 87.350 mph in the caution-free 150-lap race and earned $1,450.
