The 1962 Marhoefer Indy drivers set consists of 16 oversized cards issued by the Marhoefer Packing Company of Muncie, Indiana. A regional meat processor known for its hot dogs and sausages, Marhoefer distributed the cards as premiums inside its product packages, tying the company to the nearby Indianapolis 500.
Measuring roughly 5¼ by 4 inches with rounded corners, each unnumbered card features a black-and-white photo of the driver’s race car on the front, with a circular inset portrait of the driver. A white bar across the bottom reads “Compliments of Marhoefer.” The reverse side carries the driver’s name along with a short biographical sketch.
Because the cards were packed with meat products, most surviving examples show characteristic wiener stains on the back—a common and expected condition for the set. Clean copies are scarce and especially prized by collectors. The series captured many of the top front-engine Indy stars of the era and remains a distinctive piece of both racing and regional advertising history.
