Baconin Borzacchini (1898–1933) was a leading Italian Grand Prix and record-setting driver of the early 1930s. He was closely associated with Alfa Romeo during one of the marque’s most competitive eras. He rose to international prominence with strong performances in major European road races and Grand Prix events. This included a notable second-place finish in the 1932 Italian Grand Prix driving for Alfa Romeo. Borzacchini also achieved lasting fame as a speed specialist, setting a Class B world land speed record in 1933 on the Via Firenze–Mare autostrada. Tragically, later that same year he was killed during practice for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, ending the career of one of Italy’s most promising and respected pre-war racing talents.
