The 1970 Anglo Chewing Gum “Vintage Cars Series” is a UK confectionery issue produced by Anglo Confectionery Ltd., presented in a wrapper-style format rather than separate insert cards. The set contains 24 cards, each printed directly on the gum wrapper and measuring approximately 84 × 60 mm, slightly larger and thinner than typical British trade cards of the period. Every illustration depicts automobiles from the 1900s, showcasing early veteran cars from manufacturers such as Renault, Darracq, Berliet, and Sunbeam.
While most cards feature road-going vehicles, several highlight early racecars, showing the types of machines used in pioneering competitions, trials, and record attempts, reflecting the era when racing and production vehicles were closely related. Distributed with sticks of chewing gum, the series captures both collectible appeal and mid-century British sweetshop culture, offering a nostalgic snapshot of the earliest decade of motoring. The early racecars are pictured on the blank backed wrappers below.
