The November 30, 1952 NASCAR race at Palm Beach Speedway was a Grand National Series event held on the half-mile dirt track in Florida. A crowd of 7,500 fans watched a 19-car field take the green flag. Herb Thomas started on the pole with a qualifying speed of 63.716 mph and dominated the race in his #92 Hudson, leading every lap to win by a full two laps.
Thomas took home $1,000 for the victory and posted an average race speed of 58.008 mph. Fonty Flock finished second, followed by Perk Brown in third, Lee Petty in fourth, and Marlon Edwards in fifth.
Notably, Tim Flock clinched the 1952 Grand National Championship simply by starting the race. He flipped his car on lap 164 but still finished 12th, ending the season 106 points ahead of Herb Thomas. Smokey Yunick, serving as Herb Thomas’s chief mechanic, made his first start as a driver in Grand National competition and finished 19th.
