The 1965 Bobby Ball Memorial 200 was a 200-lap USAC Champ Car race held on the one-mile paved oval at Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, Arizona, on November 21, 1965. It served as the 18th and final race of the season, with 26 cars starting the event. Mario Andretti started from the pole and led a commanding 183 laps.
A.J. Foyt passed Andretti on lap 193 and held on to win in a time of 2 hours, 1 second at an average speed of 99.990 mph. Mario Andretti finished second, followed by Bobby Unser (3rd), Joe Leonard (4th), and Don Branson (5th). Foyt earned $6,030 for the victory — his fifth win of the 1965 season and the 32nd of his Champ Car career.
With his strong second-place finish, Mario Andretti clinched the 1965 USAC National Championship. The dramatic late-race pass in the season finale made this one of the memorable moments in 1960s IndyCar racing.
